Consultation
You are an active partner of the project! As part of an ongoing commitment to involve the Damascus community and stakeholders in this important project, a three-stage consultation program has been established to help in the development of design options for the Green Line route.
Stages 1 and 2 assisted the Metro Department in understanding the issues and concerns raised by the population, the authorities, and a wide range of stakeholders. The public consultation was a success, with 4,200 people participating in the first two stages. Moreover, several meetings were held with stakeholders, in order to present the project and answer technical questions.
Consultation phase 1: a success for the Green Line project
The first stage of public consultation organised in May 2008 was a success: more than 2500 people responded to the questionnaire or sent comments to the project team. About 10000 people visited the Green Line website.
You can find main results of this first phase on the “Consultation phase 1″ page.
Consultation phase 2: developing the project options
The second phase was organised in September 2008. The main objective of this second phase of consultation was to present you the alternative options for the Green Line, and to seek your views via a questionnaire, in order to integrate more local issues. Your opinion was a key element for the choice of the best option of the Green Line.
You can find main results of this second phase on the “Consultation phase 2″ page.
Consultation phase 3: learn more about the impacts of the project
The Green Line is expected to improve your quality of life in Damascus. This project is predicted to have positive impacts on the environment and the quality of life in Damascus by reducing traffic congestion, noise and air pollution.
